Gecko Kenya (Ltd) was incorporated in Kenya in 2012, specifically to undertake the increasing publishing activities the company is responsible for in Kenya. Gecko Kenya’s parent company, Gecko Publishing Ltd, was formed in the United Kingdom in 1997.
In addition to Kenya Yetu magazine (launched in August 2012), Gecko publishes:
A quarterly magazine dedicated to the promotion of travel to and around Africa. Travel Africa seeks to inform, inspire and give practical advice to travellers around the world who are interested in visiting Africa. Launched in 1997.
Travel Africa has given birth to various babies, including Travel Zambia, Travel Namibia and Travel Zimbabwe, all of which have been published periodically over the last four years.
The inflight magazine for Kenya Airways. Msafiri (“The Traveller“) is a monthly magazine that explores all aspects of life across Kenya Airways’ growing regional and international route network. Published by Gecko since 2005.
The in-house staff magazine for Kenya Airways. Published quarterly.
The customer magazine for Kenya’s leading mobile telecoms company, Safaricom. Distributed through Safaricom’s outlets across Kenya. Published quarterly by Gecko since 2011.
The inflight magazine for Precision Air, Tanzania’s leading airline. The most recent addition to our portfolio, Paa Tanzania was relaunched in March 2013 and aims to celebrate all that’s great about Tanzania.
The inflight magazine for LIAT, the Caribbean Airline. A refreshing lifestyle magazine about the Caribbean that connects LIAT’s passengers across 23 regional destinations. Published quarterly since 2008.
The company has also published:
- Skyhost: A quarterly magazine for Air Zimbabwe. Published for 18 months until the airline suspended operations in 2011.
- Venture: A quarterly magazine published between 2006 and 2009 on behalf of the travel company, Kumuka Worldwide.

Gecko Publishing has also produced brochures, advertisements and other promotional material for companies across Africa, including national tourist boards.
